Position may be filled as a Temporary Promotion or Detail not to exceed 1 year by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary Promotions or Details may be extended up to a maximum of 5 years and may be made permanent without further competition. Position may be filled as a Temporary Appointment not to exceed 1 year, if candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Temporary Appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three years.

Duties

Plan weekly and monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates to accomplish work requirements. Establish deadlines, allocation of resources and priorities on the basis of general work schedules and methods and policies established by higher levels of supervision. Develop performance standards, counsels employees on performance, and makes formal and informal performance appraisals. Determine equipment, supplies, and maintenance required. to assures that material is ordered and delivered to work sites so as not to delay work. Establish a good working climate to encourage employees to participate in achieving management goals, and to promote efficient and economical work operations. Assure safety and housekeeping practices are observed to safely and effectively complete tasks.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electroplater Supervisor without more than normal supervision. "I have the ability to perform common Electroplater Supervisor duties. I can apply a high degree of knowledge with electroplating operations, perform electroplating and metal finishing on different types of metals, determine thickness of plating, determine kinds of plating or metal finishing to use for types of metals; give direction to others and the flexibility of taking on expanded responsibilities in areas related to electroplating duties/functions; and recommend solutions to problems and improvements to equipment. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed." - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
