About the Position: This position is located with the Director of Referral Management at Bassett Army Community Hospital at Fort Wainwright, AK. Federal employees in Alaska are currently entitled to receive a 2.01% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary. This is subject to change.

Duties

Direct the operations of MTF central appointment call center, providing patient appointment scheduling services to all primary and specialty clinics across Medical Treatment Facility (MTF). Assist in the development and execution of plans and programs to improve access to care for all patients needing care at the MTF. Provide supervision of Appointment Clerks to include workload planning, hiring, and performance evaluation. Compile data and prepare narrative and/or statistical reports reflecting demographics, problems encountered, complaints, and similar information pertaining to the Patient Appointing System. Advise and coordinate healthcare administrative policies, programs, and operations in conjunction with all appointing and scheduling policies as directed by DHA and the Regional Health Command.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Immunization screening is required. Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with the administrative operations of a clinical practice; and managing the workload of a clinic and its staff members. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: LeadershipManages and Organizes InformationOrganizational Awareness Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
