Click on "Learn more about this agency" button below for IMPORTANT additional information. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Enterprise information technology (IT) specialist to management in support of installation AFNet IT policy and plans, requirements and implementations.

Duties

DUTY 1: Manages the Enterprise CSCS weapons system servers and workstations, designs and monitors new complex network systems, configures and installs network hardware/software, maintains network operations and administrates the largest Active Directory instance in the world. DUTY 2: Conducts problem analysis to identify trends, ineffective practices or procedures, and equipment shortcomings. DUTY 3: Plans for current and future technology integration and works issues for compatibility and standardization based on current and projected customer needs. DUTY 4: Ensures the rigorous application of information security and assurance policies in the delivery of network services.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. This is a GG-11 position in the Cyber Excepted Service (CES). The GG-11 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-11 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job. NOTE: You must meet both the Basic Qualifications and Specialized Experience requirements stated below: BASIC REQUIREMENT: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO MEETING THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS ABOVE APPLICANT MUST ALSO MEET THE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS LISTED BELOW. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: knowledge of systems integration methods, performance turning methods, test and evaluation methods and procedures, IT security principles and methods, and project management principles and methods, and project management principles and methods sufficient to plan and coordinate the installation of new products or equipment. Knowledge of new or revised policies, practices, and technical management guidelines to provide advisory services, consultation, technical assistance, and training. Knowledge of the latest advancement in technology to initiate corrective or preventive action to ensure optimum performance of the system. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of a full range of network systems (LAN/WAN) design principles, methodologies, and approaches used in developing, testing, installing, operating, managing, and maintaining network services that support functional requirements. 2. Knowledge of the network architecture, topology, protocols, and security requirements typically found at the base level. 3. Knowledge of configuration management concepts and practices to develop and implement plans for LANs and WANs. 4. Knowledge of network operating and maintenance concepts and methods to troubleshoot network problems. 5. Ability to analyze component interrelationships and evaluate network systems and computer applications from an operational perspective. 6. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing; ability to maintain an up-to-date awareness of technological advances and predict how management can meet future requirements. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONTINUED: Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.
