The primary purpose of this position is to process the acquisition, storage, utilization, research, procurement, receipt, transfer and disposition of all Information Technology (IT) assets and completes necessary documentation to establish custodial responsibility for the Wing.

Duties

Performs property accountability and management. Performs detailed review of purchase requests for specialized supplies, equipment, software, services, or commercial requirements. Enforces appropriate cybersecurity user responsibilities with sensitive IT assets. Performs continual oversight of customer IT asset requests through workflow platform.

  • This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
  • This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoDM 8140.03, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties.
  • A waiver of this six-month requirement may be granted per DoDM 8140.03. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Individual Occupational Requirements for the Information Technology (IT) Management Series, GS-2210 (Alternate A). https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/2200/information-technology-it-management-series-2210-alternative-a/ EXPERIENCE: Must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving AND one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07 (or equivalent in other pay systems) which includes: Applying configuration management concepts and life cycle management concepts sufficient to identify the need to upgrade or enhance network component capabilities in response to network problems and deficiencies; Executing customer support principals, methods, and procedures for documenting problem resolutions and providing guidance and training to customers; Analyze problems, conduct research, summarize results, and make appropriate recommendations, and prepare training materials and conduct training. OR EDUCATION: Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of configuration management concepts and life cycle management concepts sufficient to identify the need to upgrade or enhance network component capabilities in response to network problems and deficiencies. 2. Knowledge of customer support principals, methods, and procedures for documenting problem resolutions and providing guidance and training to customers. 3. Knowledge of the procedures and techniques necessary to gather, synthesize, and draw conclusions regarding trend analysis. 4. Ability to recognize and analyze problems, conduct research, summarize results, and make appropriate recommendations; and prepare training materials and conduct training. 5. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 6. Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
