Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Senior Policy Analyst, you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by: Serving as a policy advisor for domestic violence, dating violence, and sexual violence legislation and regulations. Providing assistance to the States, Native American Tribes and Alaskan Native Villages, and State Domestic Violence Coalitions, Sexual Assault Coalitions, tribal organizations, and discretionary grantees in efforts to increase public awareness about and the prevention of domestic violence, sexual violence; and to provide immediate shelter and related assistance for victims of domestic violence and sexual violence including their dependents. Serving as a technical and policy resource related to domestic violence and sexual violence programs for states, tribes, local public agencies (including law enforcement agencies, courts, legal, social service, and health care professionals), nonprofit organizations, and other persons seeking such assistance.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications: You must meet one of the items listed below (A, B, or C): A. Possess a degree in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (Must provide transcripts) B. Possess a combination of education and experience -- that provided you with the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (Must provide transcript) C. Possess four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Minimum Qualifications: You must have one-year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing at least three (3) of the following tasks: Possess and apply a current and substantial knowledge of victim services legislation, regulations, and confidentiality policies including the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act, Violence Against Women Act, and Victims of Crime Act. Review and analyze domestic violence and sexual violence legislation, human services policies, and/or social service policies to provide technical comments on their impact on program funded domestic violence, dating violence, family violence, and sexual violence grants, services, and supports for survivors and their children. Participates in internal and external meetings with representatives of other federal agencies, representatives of tribes, states and local governments, and/or non-profit organizations, and external associations interested in program policies/programs. Compiles, analyzes, and summarizes data and assists with the development of data collection plans to help draw conclusions and recommend solutions on issues concerning grant recipient reporting and performance measurement. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
