About the Position: The position is located in Fort Belvoir, VA. Fort Belvoir is approximately 15 miles southwest of Washington, D.C., five miles from Alexandria, VA and next door to the community of Mount Vernon, VA. It is within easy driving distance of Washington, D.C., national historical sites and parks. You can find historical sites, shopping, schools, and churches in the area. Duties

Serves as advisor to Installation Commander, Garrison Commander and tenant unit commanders on emergency response, Chemical/Biological/Radiological and Nuclear operations and emergency management. Responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating emergency response and programs on the installation. Establishes and maintains contacts with Federal, state, and local officials involved with various emergency action plans throughout the Garrison Area of Responsibility. Develops program for providing necessary emergency guidance as well as required training to installation personnel. Develops and posts current information concerning actual or hypothetical (for exercises) floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, storms, and manmade disasters on appropriate maps and charts in the EOC. Supports the installation operational security program.

  • This position is a Key-Essential - The position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the Federal agency or office to function effectively.
  • Employee may be required to serve on rotating shifts during emergencies or training exercises.
  • Employee is subject to 24-hour recall to perform emergency response duties. May include tour(s) of duty on weekends or nights to support training for or during actual emergency operations.
