About the Position: Position is with the Defense Health Agency Portsmouth Market. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Assist physicians in the performance of transesophageal echocardiograms. Perform Stress Treadmill and Pharmacologic Stress Echocardiograms. Maintain accurate patient procedural records. Demonstrate professional communication methods, and skills, using lines of authority appropriately. Maintains a clean, safe, orderly, and therapeutic working environment. Trains new technicians by conducting on the job training.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A favorable Tier 3 background investigation is required.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • Health care workers will be offered the Hepatitis B vaccine or immunity testing, and if declined, will be required to sign a Hepatitis B declination form.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes but are not limited to: perform Stress Treadmill and Pharmacologic Stress Echocardiograms; assist physicians in the performance of transesophageal echocardiograms; Performs portable echocardiographic studies; and Reviews new developments in the field and reviews available literature for improving quality of the echocardiographic examinations
