This position is located in the Air Traffic Organization, Safety and Technical Training Service Unit, Safety Programs Group. This group improves operational safety through voluntary employee safety reporting programs (VSRP) for air traffic controllers, technicians, engineers, and federal contract tower controllers. Fostering a collaborative safety environment between management and labor, the VSRP Support Team assists the Event Review Committees (ERCs).

Duties

This position is an Air Traffic Control Specialists (ATCS) responsible for applying comprehensive knowledge of air traffic control procedures and operations to coordinate the collection of aviation safety data through the Corrective Action Request (CAR) process. The ATCS performs complex, specialized air traffic control assignments, such as analyzing altitude compliance issues, to gather, categorize, track, and disseminate safety data collected through Voluntary Safety Reporting Programs (VSRP) to support the Air Traffic Organization's (ATO) safety culture. This is a national program that is critical to the continued safety of the National Airspace System (NAS) and the flying public. Work contributes directly to the accomplishment of air traffic and the efficiency and effectiveness of air traffic operations.

Requirements

  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

Qualifications

Candidates must have one year (52 weeks) of SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (FV-I or FG/GS-13) that is typically related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.Experience in a military or civilian air traffic facility that demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the level of work of the specialization for which application is made. This experience must have provided a comprehensive knowledge of appropriate air traffic control laws, rules, and regulations.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as: Experience separating and controlling air traffic to review and analyze air traffic control procedures and operations.Experience researching and evaluating legacy and proposed air traffic policies and procedures to evaluate and recommend ways to prevent further incidents.You should include relevant examples of the specialized experience in your work history.
