About the Position: Serve as a Transportation Specialist ensuring that cargo movements and contingency planning are conducted in accordance with the command's mission of executing ammunition and general cargo transshipment missions throughout the 834th Area of Operations (AOR).

Duties

Develop command management information reports on terminal operations, contingency planning, and cargo movement operations. Coordinate the preparation and presentation of weekly operations and terminal status reports, briefings and data to the Operations Officer. Coordinate terminal workload and establishes priorities and deadlines for accomplishing Stevedore and Related Terminal Services (S and RTS) contracts, documentation programs, and vessel operations. Provide command regulatory guidance on terminal operations and planning for Reserve unit augmentation and the implementation of customs clearance related actions required for the clearance of inbound cargoes.

Requirements

  • Must obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • Required to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, upon entering the position and annually, in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R, Joint Ethics Regulation, dated 17-Nov-2011.
  • Position requires travel away from home station at least 25% of the time.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Government Travel Credit Card (GTCC).
  • Inclement weather essential.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a current driver's license.
  • Shift work; nights, holidays, weekends, and deploy.
  • This position is key. In the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent, or designated alternate, must continue to perform the Key duties until relieved by proper authority.
  • The incumbent, or the designated alternate, may be required to take part in readiness exercises.
  • This position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively;
  • therefore, the position is designated key, which requires the incumbent, or designated alternate, to be screened from military recall status.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing technical guidance and customer service to commercial shippers on transportation requirements. Analyzing cargo characteristics, determining special handling requirements and required delivery dates. Processing cargo documents and determining most effective method for movement of cargo and deliveries. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
