About the Position: This Supervisory Information Technology (IT) Specialist (INFOSEC/NETWORK) position is located at the U.S. Army Operational Test Command, G6 Information Management Directorate, Network Division, with a duty location of Fort Cavazos, Texas. The U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command has various incentives that may be available for highly qualified candidates. These includes a Relocation Incentives

Duties

This position is located in the G6 Information Management/Chief Information Officer (CIO) Directorate at the U.S. Army Operational Test Command. Serves in the capacity of Network Division Chief and Data Center Manager. Responsible for the network, server and data center design, operations, maintenance, wireless networks, intrusion prevention and detection systems, network optimization, and schedules the installation and maintenance of new hardware and software. Implements new systems' diagnostic and maintenance tools, prepares capital investment plans and operating budgets for the division, and supervises the work of IT Specialists focused on network, server, and data center operations and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position is covered by the civilian drug abuse testing program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA form 5019-R, condition of employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the drug abuse testing program.
  • This position requires you to submit a Public Financial Disclosure Report (OGE 278e) or a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE 450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.
  • Must obtain and maintain information assurance certification and computing environment certifications per Army and DoD Directive 8570.1, DoD Publication 8140.01-M, and DoD Manual (DoDM) 8140.03 within six months of appointment.
  • This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for Engineering and Technical Management Certification within 60 months of entrance on duty.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
  • Duties of this position may entail alternative duty schedules (including extended shifts (12.5 hours); nights, weekends, and/or holidays; being recalled for urgent situations; and/or working overtime in response to surge situations).
  • Call back after normal duty hours and occasional emergency overtime/compensatory time are requirements of this position.
  • This position is subject to a Temporary Duty or business travel requirement of 5% or less of the time.
  • Occasional overnight duty travel away from the duty station (TDY) may be required.
  • A one-year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Determining and implementing computer network design, installation, maintenance, and/or performance improvements for a data center, a storage system, server farm and/or data infrastructure; and 2) Monitoring, evaluating, and/or ensuring network appliances, Risk Management Framework (RMF) criteria, and/or Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs) to meet cybersecurity requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-02 or GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required specialized experience in order to qualify.
