Duties

Responsible for the installation, overhaul, maintenance, repair and inspection of air traffic control communications and navigation aid systems. Ancillary equipment to provide onsite maintenance support for both remote and localized control tower operations. Perform on-site maintenance and independent certification of one complex system and various sub-systems of electronic air traffic control and communications equipment used in air traffic and ground traffic control of arriving and departing aircraft. Diagnose causes of equipment malfunction through application of advanced electronic theory, system analysis, and use of a variety of test equipment, schematic and wiring diagrams. Test and inspect repaired equipment to ensure operational effectiveness of air traffic control. Perform systems modifications as prescribed and furnished by FAA/DA. Design, draw diagrams/schematics for, fabricate and install electronics sub-systems of other components as required to satisfy special operational and technical requirements.

Requirements

  • This position has been designated as a Mission Essential position.
  • Must be able to perform up to 25% of temporary duty (TDY) travel.
  • This position requires passing a pre-employment physical and annually thereafter.
  • Incumbent must have or be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain Air Traffic Control Equipment with CM300 radios.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-10.
