You will serve as a SUPERVISORY NUCLEAR WEAPONS SAFETY SPECIALIST in the SAFETY DEPARTMENT, NUCLEAR SAFETY DIVISION of Strategic Weapons Facility Atlantic, KINGS BAY, GA

Duties

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY NUCLEAR WEAPONS SAFETY SPECIALIST (SPK63) of the SAFETY DEPARTMENT (SPK60) at the Strategic Weapons Facility Atlantic (SWFLANT) FIELD ACTIVITY OF STRATEGIC SYSTEMS PROGRAMS. You will develop and implement Personnel Reliability Program (PRP) policy, procedures and regulations for SWFLANT. You will assist in the administration of the Nuclear Surety Program to ensure the protection of nuclear weapons from threats inherent in their environment through utilization of applicable safety rules and ordnance safety requirements. You will assist the Nuclear Safety Officer with the implementation and management of SWFLANT’s internal monitoring program and serves as the NSO in the absence of the NSO. You will establish goals and objectives to ensure compliance with higher authority directives associated with Nuclear Weapons Surety resources and evaluates the implications of proposed shifts resulting from schedule or budgetary implications. You will plan, implement and manage broad scale logistics support for accident response forces and an extensive working knowledge of nuclear weapons safety, radiation controls and monitoring and manage diverse organizational resources.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to qualify for inclusion into the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP).
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-02 (GS-11 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: developing and implementing policy, procedures, and regulations for nuclear weapons safety which impact a large, complex military mission.
