This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: ???????This position is located at the Directorate of Public Works (DPW), Joint Base Myer - Henderson Hall, Virginia.

Duties

Performs electrical work in connection with the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment. Serves as a journeyman electrician installing, maintaining, repairing and testing electrical wiring systems, related switches, distribution panels and outlet boxes. Tests circuits and equipment by use of voltmeter, amprobe, wattmeter, megger and ohmmeter. Follows maintenance schedules and inspections or work orders, performs maintenance services, diagnoses system or equipment malfunction and repairs as necessary. Maintains record of time and materials used on jobs and completes job orders.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a current valid state or DC driver’s license and must be able to retain a valid Government vehicle operator’s license.
  • This position is considered weather and mission essential and incumbent may be required to report to work under all circumstances, even when the Government is declared closed.
  • Position requires an annual medical surveillance exam.
  • This position is considered a Testing Designated Position and requires drug testing.
  • This position may be required to work on Saturday and/or Sunday--is subject to shift rotation and emergency 24-hour recall, as determined by the Supervisor.
  • A background investigation is required.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 20 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electrician without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex electrical work in connection with the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment. I am skilled in the installation, modification, repair, and test of a variety of electrical systems, circuits, equipment, and controls such as the routing, placement, balance, load, continuity, and proper and safe operation of circuits and controls to fire alarm systems, burglar systems, and wiring systems in buildings; maintaining and repairing electric wiring systems, related switches, distribution panels, outlet boxes as well as inspecting and diagnoses system malfunctions; and using of a variety of hand tools and test equipment including wire cutters, strippers, drills, test meters, voltmeters, ammeters, and wattmeters. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence.
