Duties

You will provide critical Infrastructure Protection by taking action to prevent, remediate, or mitigate the risks resulting from vulnerabilities. You will monitor and provide reports, as required, for critical telecommunications infrastructure. You will identify and develop Requests for Proposals (RFP) for all copper Outside Plant (OSP) projects. You will provide quality assurance and other quality control inspection son all fiber projects. You will mange day to day opera rations as the Fiber OSP Manager to include attendance at staff meetings, reporting all issues in a timely manner, and developing all policies and procedures used in managing the Fiber OSP.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • Position is critical in an emergency situation and may be recalled to duty.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current certification IAW DoD Directive 8570.01 (IA Training, Certification, and Workforce Management) within 6 months of obtaining position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Planning, coordinating, and maintaining computer network communications to include major switches and routers; planning and coordinating major projects and management of all fiber (OSP) Outside Plant and supporting infrastructure. Your experience must reflect skills in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

-Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management;

OR

-Successfully completed 3 full years of progressively higher graduate level education in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks;

OR

-Possess a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to 1 year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal to 100 percent.
