You will serve as a LEAD SUPPORT SERVICES SPECIALIST (Lead Congressional Correspondence Analyst & Security Manager) in the Office of Legislative Affairs (OLA) of OFFLEGAFFAIRS WASHINGTON DC.

Duties

You will receive, review and analyze incoming correspondence, assigns action to the proper team member or agency, ensures proper privacy controls are in place and follows current rules, policies and regulations. You will provide oral and written guidance to subordinates regarding correspondence, particularly priority inquiries that must be processed as expeditiously as possible. You will research and answer requests for status updates on existing or previous inquiries, putting the Congressional office in contact with the assigned agency as appropriate. You will coach and provide advice on work methods, practices and procedures, and assist individuals in identifying the right organization to be tasked to accomplish mission. You will independently contact Congressional, federal and private offices if more information is required on correspondence. You will resolve simple, informal complaints of employees and refer others, such as formal grievances and appeals, to the supervisor or appropriate management official.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with the office DOD/DON functions for the purpose of researching, tasking, and coordinating responses to congressional inquiries. Experience with Congress and Congressional districts and staff. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

3 years or a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree is creditable for GS-11.
