This position is located in the Department of Veteran Affairs, Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid-Atlantic Healthcare Network (VISN 6), Durham VA Medical Center, Ambulatory Care Service under the Home-Based Primary Care (HBPC) Program. The VHA expands the provision of patient care beyond institutional settings, such as the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Hospital, by establishing a HBPC program under the Ambulatory Care Service to provide primary care services in the home.

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to: Data Collection/Tracking and Report Preparation Work involves accurate collection, compilation, management and/or tracking of data for statistical information on admissions, discharges, falls, infections, hospitalizations, emergency department visits, and incidents in support of the organization's HBPC program operation. Each of these items requires a different process and/or computerized database for collection and tracking, which requires this position to organize a method to ensure accuracy and efficiency (ie: VISTA, CPRS, VSSC, etc.). Provides office-based orientation to new clinical and HBPC support staff and trainees also facilitates ongoing HBPC staff development programs and projects. Prepares the agenda for the HBPC monthly team meetings, takes minutes and saves meeting minutes shared drive. Serves as the subject matter expert and is responsible for planning, coordinating and maintaining consistency in HBPC fleet services which consists of approximately 50 vehicles that are assigned directly to the HBPC program. Administrative and Clerical Functions Responsible for administrative and clerical duties which include scanning and uploading documents/receipts, preparation of memorandums, recording of minutes for local HBPC program and HBPC National meetings, collection and retrieval of reports, coordination of HBPC National visits, assistance with HBPC program policy revisions and file maintenance. Incumbent will utilize computer software programs and databases (ie: Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, VISTA, CPRS, VSSC) in order to prepare documents, correspondence, reports, and analysis documents including spreadsheets as directed by HBPC Program Director and Supervisor. Serves as a primary point of contact for the HBPC Program (ie: consults, referrals, office and equipment orders, etc.) and provides support to the direct Supervisor, HBPC Program Director, all HBPC staff with various organizational activities, correspondence, travel arrangements and reimbursement forms, preparation for presentation and projects. Independently performs a variety of office functions, including but not limited to requesting and ordering office/home-based supplies, distribution of mail, researching, preparing, and tracking request for purchase and/or repair of office (ie: OIT orders for computers, supply orders gauze, wipes, etc.). Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/07/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. Proficiency Requirement: Clerk-Typist, Office Automation Clerk/Assistant and Positions with Parenthetical Titles of (Typing), (Office Automation) Clerk-Typist, GS-2/4; Office Automation Clerk/ Assistant (any grade); (Typing) (any grade); and (Office Automation) (any grade): require 40 words per minute typing speed. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Performing administrative work involving the collection, compilation, and/or tracking of medical or operational data and statistical information. Engaging with customers requesting information or assistance via telephone, TEAMS or email. Utilizing office automation programs and software to create reports, spreadsheets, and complete assignments. Coordinate and schedule meetings. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. The work may involve standing, walking, kneeling, bending, squatting, lifting, and carrying of light items 50% or more of the time. The work is typically performed in an office environment. Working in a Medical Center involves everyday risks and discomforts, but normal safety precautions.
