About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency, 36th Medical Group, Behavioral Health Department, Andersen Air Force Base, Guam. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Incumbent serves as Psychologist for the Clinic. Makes mental health diagnoses as appropriate in accordance with DSM-IV-TR criteria, or other, more current, accepted standards. Provides individual and group therapy, using various modalities as clinically indicated to include brief problem-focused psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and client-centered therapy. Assesses acute mental health conditions in beneficiaries who present with such issues. Assesses and provides crisis intervention for individuals and families. Provides individual, couple, family, and/or group psychological counseling utilizing a variety of treatment modalities to child, adolescent, and/or adult patients. Provides psychological and clinical consultation to other professionals and paraprofessionals through established consultation channels.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
• ALL EMPLOYESS ASSIGNED TO A MTF ARE REQUIRED TO BE SCREENED FOR APPLICABLE IMMUNIZATIONS REGARDLESS OF SERIES, BASED ON OCCUPATIONAL RISK, AND ARE SUBJECT TO MISSING/REQUIRED IMMUNIZATIONS IAW AR 40-562, CHAPTERS 3 and 4.
• Incumbent may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying work schedules.
• Incumbent must pass a required Pre-Appointment Physical.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain Basic Life Saving (BLS).
• Must be a credential member of the Military Training Facility (MTF).
• This is an Inclement Weather Essential position: Incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions. Mission essential position.
• This position requires occasional TDY - 5%.
• The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
• This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist: Degree: Successful completion of a Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements below: Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal Service which includes performing behavioral health assessments; performing bio-psychosocial evaluations; providing psychological counseling and developing behavioral health treatment plans; providing guidance for cases and recommendations on treatment plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Highly Preferred Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required.
