You will serve as a Paralegal Specialist within NLSC.

Duties

You will manage the NLSC headquarters legal office and exercises responsibility for continued operation of NLSC legal office functions. You will be responsible for overall legal administrative functions of a Navy legal office.

Requirements

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

GS-12 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate performing the following duties: Preparing assigned criminal cases in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations; Assisting attorneys during hearings and litigation with the organization of testimony, presentation of evidence, and required research; Preparing and reviewing legal pleadings and case summaries; Interviewing victims and witnesses to obtain and verify information and prepare for trial; Ensuring office compliance with reporting requirements and applicable policy, procedures, laws and regulations; Overseeing the general training program for paralegals and legal support staff. GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate performing the following duties: Preparing assigned criminal cases in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations; Assisting attorneys during hearings and litigation with the organization of testimony, presentation of evidence, and required research; Interviewing victims and witnesses to obtain and verify information and prepare for trial; Ensuring office compliance with reporting requirements and applicable policy, procedures, laws and regulations. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

GS-11:
Successful completion of Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher le avel graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related
