This position is a Supervisory Nurse located at the White Earth Health Center (WEHC) with duty station located at the Naytahwaush Health Center, Naytahwaush, Minnesota. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) or Designee. This is an Open Until Filled Announcement and applications will be referred when vacancies occur.

Duties

Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates and prepares schedules for completion of work. Assesses patient care needs on a continuing basis. Reviews records/reports, interpreting signs and symptoms of patients' changing status and taking corrective action. Provides comprehensive nursing care to patients based on nursing assessments and diagnoses, physician's medical care plan as well as the physical, mental, and emotional needs of the patient. Consults with physician regarding medical and nursing management of patient care needs. Ensures infection control standards are applied in accordance with unit and department operating policy.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education(external link), Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs(external link), Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education(external link), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (external link) is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. AND Licensure For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination(external link). In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. AND Experience Basic Requirements for the GS-11 (or equivalent) Grade Level In addition to the above requirements, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: GS-11: Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field OR At least one full year of professional nursing experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level. Nursing Experience Defined: GS-11: Provide oversight and direction in establishing and maintaining a system of nursing practices, coordinate patient care and services; collaborate with other disciplines toward resolution of patient's problems. Plan with other members of the health care team, special details of patient care to provide continuity of care; function as nursing house supervisor or nurse manager and/or provide direct patient care. Knowledge of principles, methods, and tools of Quality Assurance, Quality Improvement, and Quality Controls. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

Education
