About the Position: The job location will consist of the BACH footprint and outlying Southwest Market area. Routinely the hours will consist of 0730 to 1600 but will require after hours to ensure training of BACH staff on different shift, 40 hours weekly with opportunity for overtime. Normally Monday through Friday in the hospital, clinics, and off-site locations.

Duties

Train individuals in courses such as Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) courses, Life Support Programs (BLS, PALS, ALS), EMT Refresher courses, Trauma AIMS, EMT Intermediate Courses, for an organization. Demonstrates the ability to clearly present information to civilian and military personnel. Assist trainees with inquiries regarding health education programs. Schedule classes with adjunct instructors to accomplish training objectives. Conduct training instruction on a verity of health education programs. Provide training and education for individuals and groups within learning environments. Analyze program operation data to compile reports for the department.

Requirements

  • This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position requires heavy lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
  • Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • Temporary duty travel (TDY) of 5 % may be required.
  • Designated Mission and Weather Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination.
  • This position requires irregular hours, and may be required to Shift-work to include nights/weekends.
  • Incumbent must possess, within six months of hiring, and maintain certification as an instructor in Pre-Hospital and/or Basic Trauma Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, Nursing RN or LPN, EMT intermediate, or Paramedic. OR Superior Academic Achievement: Successful completion of all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in Education above. Superior Academic Achievement is based on: (1) Class Standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; OR (2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) - Applicants must have a grade-point average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.; OR (3) Honor Society Membership - Applicants may be considered eligible based on membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies (https://www.achsnatl.org/).
