Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY: As a Senior Policy Advisor on Behavioral Health, you will use your knowledge of and experience with Administration for Children and Families, Immediate Office of the Secretary, to optimize business results and customer experience by: Managing a wide range of policy projects related to behavioral health. Providing expert advice and consultation on behavioral health to make realistic assessments of a broad range of difficult, complex, and sensitive policy issues. Overseeing and making authoritative decisions on the prioritization and disposition of issues related to behavioral health in consultation with ACF leadership. Using judgment and discretion in determining intent, and in interpreting and revising existing policy and regulatory guidance on behavioral health for use by others within or outside ACF. Exercising a high degree of judgment and ingenuity in applying very general guidelines to a wide variety of sensitive and complex assignments involving behavioral health. Serving as an expert in the interpretation and/or formulation of policy on behavioral health, which have an impact nationwide and is highly interrelated with other Federal authorities and programs.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: GS-14 Minimum Qualifications: You must have one-year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. To be creditable, specialized experience must include three (3) of the following tasks: Interpreting and revising existing behavioral health policy and regulatory guidance for use by others within or outside the organization. Provide expert advice and consultation to make realistic assessments of a broad range of complex and sensitive policy issues related to behavioral health. Evaluate program accomplishments and policy initiatives related to behavioral health for consistency and long-range goals. Advise senior and high-ranking officials on broad, complex, and often sensitive issues related to behavioral health, and coordinate cross-program behavioral health policy efforts.
