About the position: This position will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation at Dyess AFB, Texas. This position is considered Regular Full-Time (RFT). You are guaranteed 40 hours, You may be required to work nights, weekends and holidays. Duties

Supervises the planning, manning, directing and operational oversight of the indoor fitness and outdoor recreational pools. Provides total personnel management to include interviews, hires, disciplines, develops work schedules, documents and provides training, approves leave, appraises and recommends awards for both Nonappropriated and Appropriated Fund lifeguards, swim instructors and other pool staff members. Organizes, promotes and schedules swim lessons, swim meets, special events and daily activities addressing differing needs of the base populace. Observes lifeguard/water safety instructors as they execute lesson plans and provides assistance as necessary. Develops work schedules ensuring required lifeguards and other staff are on duty. Ensures water quality and clarity testing is performed in accordance with Bioenvironmental and Wing Safety standards, reports deficiencies. Completes all documentation pertinent to the pools. Consolidates and verifies funds from the pools and completes necessary financial paperwork. Inspects pools and equipment ensuring they are maintained/operated in a safe and efficient manner; reporting faulty equipment/facility. Assists in establishing policies and procedures for staff and facility, trains and enforces these procedures, ensures safety rules and regulations are adhered to. Provides input on a yearly budget and capital expenditure requirements. Plans, implements/schedules all in-service training in accordance with regulations. Evaluates and schedules instructors for classes/programs, periodically monitoring classes for content effectiveness and presentation. Works with Marketing to promote classes/programs. Works with Civil Engineering to schedule maintenance and conducts quality assurance checks on maintenance performed on facilities. Instructs lifeguards in specific tasks, procedures, techniques and ensures timely accomplishment of work assignments. Responsible or the safety of customers. Instructs, cautions and/or expels patrons as appropriate. Resolves difficult problems and/or conflicts and repots incident to the Outdoor Recreation Manager. Uses a variety of techniques, i.e., artificial respiration, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and first aid. Notifies emergency medical services (EMS) and/or appropriate personnel for more serious accidents/injuries. Assists in cleaning and maintaining facility in according to established schedules and instructions. Fosters good relations with patrons and staff, works with parents/guardians to ensure students are progressing within each level swim lessons. Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: This is a drug testing designated position. Experience which has provided a general familiarity with the routines and procedures followed in group activities or programs. In addition, must have responsible experience in a recreation program activity which has involved recreation work in the area of pools. Ability to plan, supervise, administer and carry our aquatic recreation programs. A current certification in Water Safety Instructing (SI) is highly desirable. Must have CPR for the Professional Rescuer which includes CPR for adult, child and infant), First Aid and be Lifeguard Instructor certified. All certifications must remain current during the period of employment. Knowledge of swimming facility rules, equipment and materials to perform standing and recurring tests of equipment and water. Must be able to successfully pass a physical examination as physical exertion is required in effecting a swimming rescue; must be able to lift and carry 45 lbs and over. Aquatic Facility Operator or Certified Pool Operator certification is desirable. Ability to safeguard and handle cash, cash register experience preferred but not necessary. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. Will be required to work an uncommon tour of duty to include evenings, weekends and holidays. Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position is not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
