About the Position: This position is located at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. Serves as senior Safety and Occupational Health Manager and Advisor for the Director of Army Safety, analyzing and resolving diverse, high safety risk hazards.

Duties

As a senior Safety and Occupational Health Manager, represents the Office of the Director of Army Safety by presenting briefings and participating in conferences, seminars, committees, meetings, and workshops. Participates in "hands-on" in safety matters related to vehicle training issues and their effect on safety and accident prevention. Justifies proposed policies, recommends substantive changes in the safety policies, and obtains technical information on risk assessment, loss control, and accident prevention doctrine and doctrine policy in the area of general safety. As a senior Safety and Occupational Health Manager, coordinates with the Office of the Chief of Staff, Army, Department of the Army Staff, major Army commands, government agencies, public and private sector agencies and professional societies. Identifies, defines, and pursues common goals and interest and to exchange technical information and knowledge on safety related matters. Participates in implementation of risk management in Army operations; promotes the use of risk management during all phases of Army planning. Serves as a senior Safety and Occupational Health Manager and advisor for the Director of Army Safety, analyzing and resolving diverse, high safety risk hazards. Establishes plans, goals, metrics, and policy to support the management of the Army's Safety and Operational Health Management System. Coordinates, consolidates, and disseminates the processes, operational policies, guidance, and procedures to ensure the Army Safety and Occupational Health Management System is successful. Serves as a senior technical safety advisor and subject matter expert. Develops and prepares supplements to guidelines developed by higher command and initiates written procedures implementing technical safety standards, codes, and safety requirements for a wide variety of operations.

Requirements

• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• This position requires TDY approximately 25% of the time.
