The EAP provides personalized consultation, short-term support, referral and follow-up services to enhance employee functioning at the NIH. Come make a difference! Learn more at OMS EAP.

Duties

Preferred candidates will demonstrate at least one year of clinical experience with EAP clients, including cases requiring crisis intervention in the workplace, assessment of multiple stakeholders with disparate objectives, or collaboration with employer-based and external employee support services; experience administering an EAP program including in an oversight or supervisory capacity; recent work developing procedures for EAP clinical services and policies, including those requiring knowledge of organizational and regulatory requirements to set parameters for EAP activities; and performing securely on EAP tasks requiring excellent verbal and written communications. Oversee a full-service EAP, staffed by professionals with licensure and certification in workplace wellness and behavioral health that is free to all employees and their immediate family members. Design and implement effective outreach programs and marketing strategies to insure employee awareness of EAP services. Assess NIH EAP needs and design offerings tailored to those needs to be consistent with national standards. Provide crisis intervention and conflict mediation using strategies that minimize the disruption at the worksite, and help foster positive working relationships. Provides the full range of professional EAP counseling services (i.e., short-term counseling for NIH employees and their families). Provides consultative services to supervisors, work groups, representatives from the Office of Human Resources; the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion; Civil; the Ombudsman Office; and the Office of Intramural Training and Education. Provides guidance and clinical direction to the contracted EAP staff, EAP affiliates, and EAP interns. Provides supervisor and employee training regarding EAP services and referral mechanisms. Oversees the day-to-day operation of the EAP office and assures adherence to EAP procedures.

Requirements

Qualifications

In order to qualify for a Social Worker, GS-0185 position, you must have a master's degree in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition, in order to meet the qualification requirements for a Social Worker, GS-0185 at the GS-13 level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal Service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: developing educational programs for supervisors and employees regarding Employee Assistance Program services and referral mechanisms; leading the development and implementation of social work policies and programs; evaluating and reporting on social work activities by assessing programming effectiveness, design, quality control/improvement and risk management measures; and making psychosocial assessments of employees in a healthcare setting to identify factors having a bearing on their illness and recovery. You will receive credit for all experience material to the position, including experience gained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities, regardless of whether you received pay.
