Duties

Leading the team in identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established work flow, skill level and/or occupational specialization. Monitoring and reporting on the status and progress of work, checking on work in progress and reviewing completed work to see that the supervisor’s instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines and quality have been met. Creating, developing, and designing new research components of proposed research protocols. Managing nutrition related protocol requirements and associated data. Developing nutrition care plans and making recommendations to the physician/LIP.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.

  • Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.

  • This position requires: weekend and holiday hours, and on call shifts.

  • This position requires active, current registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • If selected, you must pass a pre-employment medical examination, provide evidence of immunization and comply with the annual flu vaccination program.

Qualifications

Basic Education Requirement: Bachelors or graduate/higher level degree in the fields of dietetics, food, nutrition, food service management, institution management, or related science. The educational program must have been accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics) (ACEND), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. For dietitian positions, the curriculum must have been in accordance with the qualifying requirements established by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) (formerly American Dietetic Association (ADA) prior to January 1, 2012) in effect at the time of graduation; or Competition of a coordinated undergraduate program, internship, or other clinical component approved by AND (formerly ADA) for dietitians or nutrition; or Professional registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). In addition, in order to qualify for the Dietitian (Clinical Research), GS-0630-13; You must have 1 year of experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of tasks: researching protocols and clinical nutrition research; creating new research procedures, techniques, interventions, and diets; conducting body composition assessments, and administer and analyze food questionnaires; and communicating scientific information internally and in journal publications; Selective Factor(s): In order to meet minimum qualification requirements you must demonstrate possession of the selective factor(s) of this position. Selective factor(s) include(s): Active, current registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD)/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
