About the Position: The Administrative and Civil Law Division provides legal support to the command on all issues. It is our privilege to provide proactive legal support to the Senior Commander, garrison commander, tenant commanders, directorates, staff, and quality legal services to all authorized clients, including military members, family members and retirees.

Duties

Serve as assistant to the attorneys of the Staff Judge Advocate, Legal Assistance Section. Use judgment to resolve clients problems or make referrals as necessary to attorneys appropriate agencies and organizations. Assist clients independently by providing information regarding such matters as what is involved in various situations. Draft legal documents and correspondence. Ensuring that all correspondence/documents are prepared using the proper format, capitalization, grammar, spelling and clarity. In accordance with accepted legal practice, all actions of legal importance, even though many are performed by the technician using independent judgment, are as authorized by the attorney supervisor. Work performed may require initiative, creativity, and a working knowledge of relevant law, attorneys are required to exercise a certain amount of supervision regardless of the technician's experience and expertise.

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to DetailClericalLegal, Government and JurisprudenceTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
