This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, headquartered in Washington, District of Columbia. Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY: As a Policy Director, you will use your knowledge of and experience with the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Immediate Office of the Assistant Secretary, to optimize business results and customer experience by: Developing and presenting briefings to all levels within and outside of the Agency on cross-cutting human services policies, and effects mutual relationships with other staff activities and personnel in the overall accomplishment of assigned functions. Advising and conducting research, analysis, and coordination on a variety of complex cross-cutting policy, programmatic, and technical issues related to the operational activities of ACF and related organizations as needed. Leading and organizing complex tasks and complicated logistics of delivering cross-cutting policies and initiatives generated by ACF. Resolving complex cross-cutting human services issues or problems. Developing cross-cutting policies and procedures to enhance operating effectiveness and efficiency across ACF, HHS, other Federal agencies, and service providers. Developing options papers and analytical documents to provide input and drive cross-cutting policy decision-making.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Minimum Qualifications for GS-15: You must have one-year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 in the Federal service. To be creditable, specialized experience must include three of the following tasks: Interpreting and/or revising existing cross-cutting human services policy and regulatory guidance used by others within the Program and/or organization. Managing key cross-cutting initiatives that advance the mission and ACF strategic plan goals such as, equity, upstream prevention, whole family approaches, supporting resilience, and innovation. Advise leadership on broad, complex, and/or sensitive issues on cross-cutting human services program and policy efforts. Provide advice and/or consultation on assessments of a broad range of complex and/or sensitive cross-cutting human services policy issues. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
