About the Position: This position is located at the Logistics Readiness Center (LRC), U.S. Military Academy, West Point. Located in the scenic Hudson River valley, only 50 miles from New York City, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point is a four-year academic institution, a nationally-renowned historic site, and the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. The undergraduates, known as cadets, are commissioned as officers in the US Army upon graduation.

Duties

You will serve as an Ammunition Supply Specialist responsible for ammunition supply management involving ammunition authorization, acquisition, and accountability; inventory management; ammunition replacement programs; and ammunition identification. You will conduct inventories and verify stock levels as well as investigate shortfalls/overages and prepare discrepancy reports. You will serve as the functional systems analyst over two automated systems, the Standard Army Ammunition System Modernized and Training Ammunition Management Information System, to maintain stock record accountability of ammunition. You will use a variety of supply system automated reports and data to identify problems and to recommend solutions. You will serve as technical advisor in planning ammunition projects and on problems of inspection and surveillance. You will prepare a variety of documents and reports using automated systems and software. You will provide advice and assistance on customer supply operations to internal and external personnel. You will ensure customers are briefed and comply with external and internal ammunition policies and procedures. You will operate a forklift as needed.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a valid Secret security clearance.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include overtime, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program and is a Drug Testing Designated Position. Incumbent must sign a DA Form 5019-R and must pass a drug test prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position is subject to the Lautenberg amendment to the gun control act of 1968 which makes it a felony for anyone who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence to ship, transport, possess, or receive firearms or ammunition.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a valid forklift operator's license.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

[remove LL.B or J.D., if unrelated] in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Supply, Logistics, Business Management or another related field. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
