About the Position: The installation rests in the beautiful 'hill and lake' country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove and is approximately 60 miles north of the capital city of Austin, 50 miles south of Waco, 160 miles south of Dallas, and 150 miles north of San Antonio. The nearby lakes, Belton and Stillhouse, offer year round outdoor recreation activities.

Duties

Serve as a member of the Installation Arrival Departure Airfield Control Group (A/DACG), Deployment Operations, with the responsibility to support units in the preparation, maintenance, and execution of air movement plans. Coordinate internal A/DACG activities and logistical support; maintain aircraft status (arrivals, departures, and load times); report movements; coordinate airfield support requirements (ramp space, refueling); notify customs of incoming aircraft. Conduct Joint Inspection with deploying units, and when available, the Air Force Contingency Response Element (CRE). Identify deficiencies and ensures they are corrected by deploying unit. Prepare and/or verify aircraft load plans and hazardous materials (HAZMAT) certifications. Track flight schedules while enroute for inbound and outbound aircraft and notifies appropriate agencies and personnel of changes. Provide training, certification, and licensing for airfield personnel on 10K forklifts, baggage conveyor belts, New Generation Sized Loader (NGSL), and 25K-Loaders. Enforce safety rules and regulations while working in/around aircraft. Physically loads/unloads individual and crew served weapons and ammunition on aircraft for transport. Direct call-forward times for pallet loads, vehicles, and passengers.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
  • IAW change 3 to AR 600-85, this position is covered by the alcohol and drug abuse prevention and control program, employees must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination to ensure the required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • This position is designated key: employee occupying this position may not vacate during war or national emergency without seriously impairing the mission.
  • This position works in support of other deployment operation missions as required: rail and unit movement planning and execution. Irregular work hours required after normal duty hours (weekends, holidays, evenings, and nights).
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license and any installation and/or DoD license required for the type of vehicle being driven.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a forklift training certification and license.
  • This position requires the incumbent to work shifts to cover 24-hour operations, when mission dictates.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work irregular hours after normal duty such as (weekends, holidays, evenings, and nights).
