This Program Analyst position is located in the Division of Earth Sciences (EAR) within the Directorate for Geosciences (GEO). The incumbent applies qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques and information management skills to capture, assemble, analyze, and disseminate data for assigned projects.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-12 level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 Level in federal service performing, leading, and overseeing complex analyses. Examples of experience include: using quantitative/qualitative analytical techniques to evaluate the effectiveness of administrative procedures and operations, and to recommend changes to meet short/long-term strategic plans; engaging in on-going analysis of financial matters to determine resources required and ensuring that regulations concerning financial management are adhered to; applying various analytical techniques to data management systems in order to identify and report on patterns/trends; and performing management studies to evaluate and analyze projects, programs, and activities and to recommend solutions to increase efficiency/effectiveness. Experience refers to paid/unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) & other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, & skills & can provide valuable training/experience that translates directly to paid work. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education may enhance skills required for this position; however, no substitution of education for specialized experience may be made at this level.
