About the Position: This position serves as a Health System Specialist (HSS) for a medical department at a Medical Treatment Facility advising and assisting the Department Chief in the day-to-day operations of the department.

Duties

Assist in the development of plans, programs, and monitoring of clinics to ensure goals are being met. Assist with implementation and monitoring of new programs and/or business model changes. Advise staff in implementation of the department’s policies and programs.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Advising staff in implementation of the department's policies and programs. Analyze administrative clinical practices to recommend improvements in the department. Ensuring the planning, directing, analyzing and/or coordinating of administrative activities within a Medical Center. Assists with the development budget projections and/or cost effectiveness for the department. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). OPM provides the following example: Progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. Work must have involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following: -Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems; -Regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups; and -Government-wide, agency, and facility systems and requirements in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel, and procurement. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Health Systems AnalysisHealth Systems Data ManagementHealthcare Operations Administration Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
