This position is located in Deputy Commandant for Operations (CG-DCO), Assistant Commandant for Response Policy (CG-5R), Office of Search and Rescue Policy, SAR Coordination Division (CG-SAR-2), located in Washington, DC.

Duties

You will serve as Deputy, U.S. Search and Rescue Satellite Aided Tracking (SARSAT) Program and U.S. competent authority to the International Cospas-Sarsat Programme Agreement, providing SARSAT system management, administration, oversight and operational expertise for the USCG/U.S., and providing U.S. SARSAT Program interface to the USCG Search and rescue Optimization Planning System (SAROPS) and other communications, sensors, command and control, and information systems in support of SAR as determined by CMDT (CG-SAR).

Qualifications

At the GS-14: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal Government. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience must include: Participating in USCG and U.S. SARSAT Program activities and initiatives; AND Leading a workforce or team for a search and rescue program or projects; AND Analyzing, and evaluating the effectiveness of operations and programs (policies, budget etc. i.e.); AND Preparing and presenting reports or briefings; AND Representing management on a local, national, and international levels. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
