Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Regional Emergency Management Specialist, you will use your knowledge of and experience with Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Regional Operations (ORO), to optimize business results and customer experience by: Managing all elements of the Region's emergency preparedness and response system including development of emergency plans and procedures for long-term. Serving as subject matter expert and the Region's point-of-contact and technical expert on matters pertaining to Administration for Children and Families (ACF's) emergency preparedness and response mission. Implementing the Region's response during an emergency or disaster and assists with national disasters. Maintaining and facilitating communication regarding ACF's human services-related response and recovery issues between the Joint Filed Offices (JFO) and the Human Services Branch Chief in the Incident Response Coordination Team (IRCT). Directing Human Services Shelter Assessment Teams. Providing research, analysis and programmatic and administrative direction to teams during national and man-made disasters, public health and Continuity of Operations Program (COOP) emergencies.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Minimum Qualifications: GS-13: You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-12 level in the Federal service that includes the three (3) of the following tasks: Interpreting human services emergency management policy and implementation through others in state, territory, tribal, local, grantee governments, and private sector human services agencies. Applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to gather facts concerning emergency management policies, programs and/or related issues involving program operations, management and/or administrative issues. Analyzing issues identified during evaluation concerning emergency management policies, programs and/or related issues involving program operations, management and/or administrative issues. Providing technical assistance to grantees related to human services emergency management. Documenting experience: IN DESCRIBING YOUR EXPERIENCE, PLEASE BE CLEAR AND SPECIFIC. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
