About the Position: This position is located at U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 407th Army Field Support Brigade, AFSBN-Cavazos, Fort Cavazos,TX 76544.

Duties

Provide information and/or advice to higher-level supervision on such matters as ability to accomplish work assignments as scheduled, budget estimates, revise work schedules and/or re-estimate labor and other resources. Analyze complex deployment data in order to determine status of deploying/redeploying units. Select, interpret and/or apply the guidelines to resolve transportation conflicts in order to ensure consistency with transportation policies and objectives. Maintain workloads for subordinate work groups or units in order to shift work among subordinate units for most effective operations. Analyze production, cost and/or personnel records in order to evaluate progress of work such as control or reduce costs; studies continuing problems; and/or recommends corrective actions. Ensure compliance with procedures and regulations, official guidance, technical manuals, policies and/or procedures governing the activities of the organization. Counsel employees on problems and corrects informal complaints through discussions with employees and/or union representatives. Coordinate activities in order to obtain instant responses and adherence to operating/safety regulations from crew members Ensure compliance with procedures and regulations (related to safety, security, operating, and emergency procedures) by performing continuous spot checks of work in progress.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • This position is covered by the civilian drug abuse testing program.
  • Position is key for mobilization. Provisions of DOD1200.7 must be met before filling with a ready reservist or a retiree with call back orders.
  • This is a Mission Essential position: The incumbent is required to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations as directed by the Commander.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license and any installation and/or DoD license required for the type of vehicle being driven.
  • This position required the incumbent to work hours required after normal duty hours, weekends, holidays, evenings, and night
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain the locomotive certification.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have been or can obtain a locomotive engineer certification.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Rail Operations Supervisor without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Rail Operations Supervisor duties. Performing train handling operations and rail load planning. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Working Conditions: Job requires outside work at the Railhead, both old and new, the Division Ready Reaction Facility (DRRF). The work is performed 40% in an office setting and 60% outside working in and around heavy equipment. Outside work can be in all types of weather. On occasion might have to work nights and weekends. Duties require Safety shoes, glasses, hard hat and gloves.
