About the Position: This position is located within the Directorate for Professional Education (DPE), Bio skills Training Department. The position is that of a simulation specialist, conducting simulation training, assisting with development and coordination of simulation curriculum, simulation scenario design and evaluation, and evaluation of courses designed.

Duties

Provide education opportunities that may or may not include low-to high simulation support for classes, training and exercises. Provide input to maintain Standards of Procedures (SOPs) for the simulation center. Work towards accrediting and maintaining the simulation center with Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSIH). Operate simulation equipment that is own by NMMCL and analysis to all educational and training opportunities in relation to simulation. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • Situational telework may be authorized.
  • Pre-employment physical examination required.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Travel (TDY) outside of the commuting area up to 10% for training.
  • Heavy lifting up to 45 lbs. is required.

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: adult education, medical simulation. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing curriculum and training material for training and/or classes; design healthcare simulation scenarios for educational purposes; utilizing computer software to obtain and edit medical simulation data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education and TrainingIT Modeling and SimulationOperations SupportRequirements Analysis Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
