This position is part of the Appraisal and Valuation Services Office, Office of the Secretary of Interior. The incumbent will be responsible for serving as the Executive Assistant to the AVSO Director and Senior Advisor.

Duties

Assist Director and Senior Advisor in coordination of administrative management, human resources, records management, information technology coordination and coordinating travel authorizations and vouchers. Plan and manage Director's and Senior Advisor's schedules and calendars. Review documents for grammatical accuracy, conformance with policy, tone, and facts presented in the correspondence. Compose communications, replies, and prepare materials including memoranda, reports, letters, and tables independently or as directed. Maintain a comprehensive subject-matter filing system in conformance with the AVSO records office. Assist Director and Senior Advisor on accuracy in financial management and budgets, conforming to record keeping.

Qualifications

At the GS-12 level, you must meet the following qualification: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11?level. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position includes but is not limited to: independently gathering information, identifying and analyzing issues, and developing recommendations to resolve substantive administrative problems of effectiveness and efficiency of work operations; interpreting written guides and regulations and modifying existing procedures and/or developing or recommending new techniques or policy that may deviate from traditional administrative practices, yet meet regulatory/policy requirements; assisting with the record keeping and the accuracy of the current year budget tracking; coordinating travel for staff; and creating administrative and program record file plans and maintaining files. TIME-IN-GRADE: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
