About the Position: This position is with the US Army Installation Management Command, Directorate of Public Works, Operations & Maintenance Division located on Fort Greely, AK.

Duties

Incumbent will assist with break down repairs, emergency and trouble calls. Responsible for overseeing new installations, alterations, and overall preventive maintenance. Maintain plumbing systems and equipment additions and/or deletions.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state drivers license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a respirator card and asbestos removal and backflow testing certificate.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a government vehicle operator's license for the class of vehicles operated.

To meet the screen out element applicants should document experience perform common Plumber tasks and/or duties under close supervision to include setting up and installing plumbing systems (e.g. sewage, water, oil, air, and gas distribution systems, water closets, tubs, back flow preventers devices / assemblies, fire sprinklers systems and showers); determining equipment, tools, and parts needed for plumbing repair work; AND interpreting instructions for final assembly on plumbing parts or systems - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The position Without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Measurement and LayoutTechnical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Trouble Shooting PHYSICAL EFFORT: Required to stand, stoop, bend. Kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions and where parts of the system are in hard-to-reach places. Frequently lifts and carries items that weigh up to 75 pounds and occasionally handles heavier items, usually with assistance of another person or of mechanical devices. Work is frequently done from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside in all types of weather. The work is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy. Exposed to mud, water, and fumes. Frequently exposed to the possibility of scrapes, burns, and infections from unsanitary work sites. Incumbent has occasional exposure to the possibility of broken bones. Protective devices such as but not limited to ear plugs, safety glasses, respirators, gloves, hard hat, and safety shoes are required. Long trousers or coveralls and shirt or tee shirt with sleeves are worn. Responds to emergency calls after regular working hours.

Education
