About the Position: Serves as a Police Records Specialist for the Fort Walker Directorate of Emergency Services; Provost Marshall and Police Division. This duty location falls under the Richmond, VA locality salary table which is 21.38% above federal base pay.

Duties

Serves as Police Records custodian and liaison for the directorate. Coordinates with the Staff Judge Advocate, Social Services, local law enforcement, courts, Army Criminal Investigation Division, Office of Personnel Management criminal investigators and other agencies to maintain case documentation. Manages and tracks personnel performance and evaluations for the police department. Serves as primary Automated Time/Attendance and Production System (ATAPPS) timekeeper. Performs a variety of administrative duties in support of the police department: receives phone calls and visitors; drafts, staffs, and reviews office correspondence; maintains office files and security containers.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes using proven methods and techniques to gather, analyze and evaluate information, facts, and data; resolving a variety of problems related to staff actions; coordinating with various law enforcement and investigation agencies to maintain police records and case documentation; managing various administrative processes, time and attendance, and/or department purchase requests using automated systems; experience with government procurement methods and procedures, statistical analysis and data tracking. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Criminology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
