You will serve as the Lead Production Controller in the Production Control Branch, within the Maintenance, Engineering, and Industrial Operations Department of Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Keyport Division (NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV KEYPORT WA).

Duties

You will distribute and balance workload among employee in accordance with established workflow or job specification, assure timely accomplishment of the assigned workload. You will keep in touch with the status and progress of work, and make day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities. You will estimate and report on expected time of completion of work and maintain records of work accomplishments and time expended and prepare production reports. You will give on the job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices. You will coach teams in the selection and application of appropriate problem solving methods and techniques. You will lead the team in assessing its strengths and weaknesses and provide leadership to the team in exploring alternatives and determining what improvements can be made (e.g. in work methods, processes, and procedures. You will evaluate and brief both internal and external stakeholders on Cost, Schedule, and Performance/Quality metrics to ensure that the production plan is realistic and that Depot is within acceptable levels of project performance. You will be responsible for coordination of Depot level reparable turnaround task related to planning. You will identify problem or potential problem production practices and lead team efforts in developing stable process controls and procedures using continuous process improvement principles in planning and production practices. You will compile estimates for different types of skilled labor and the number of worker hours required for production operations.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Managing production controller work which includes reporting on projects, planning and executing production.
