About the Position: This position is located at Director Branch Clinic/Oceana, Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Virginia. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Perform a combination of receptionist, informational and clerical duties to provide outpatient medical records service to all eligible beneficiaries of the Armed Forces. Review medical record assuring the completion of any necessary forms needed in the completeness of the medical record. Review document in the record for proper sequencing and ensures proper protocol of records for retirement purposes. Review and verify that all medical information contained in the outpatient record has been properly dated and documented. Register patient's identification data in the Composite Health Care System (CHCS) and medical readiness computer for future reference. Provide information to the medical staff and other healthcare professional concerning the requirements for accurate and proper procedures of custody and maintenance of outpatient medical records.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. General Experience: One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as, scheduling patient appointments, receiving and screening visitors, or using a personal computer to input data. OR Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.
