The purpose for this position is to support the Federal Government's response efforts to COVID19 by ensuring appropriate COVID screening protocols are performed for visitors and staff entering the facility as well as provide appointment verification and location assistance, answer general questions, provide directions and welcome visitors with visible excellent customer service.

Duties

Major duties include but are not limited to: Greets visitors and staff and validates need for entry. Uses scripted language and high performing customer service skills to appropriately communicate CDC/VHA hospital entry processes and avoid negative interactions. Serves as the first point of contact for many of our customers by serving at the information desk or any other area where visitors and staff would seek information or standing in strategic locations where patients and visitors need wayfinding assistance as directed by supervisor. Possesses the knowledge to address a wide range of visitors and staff inquiries regarding the Medical Center. Assists Veterans and visitors with wheelchair requests and/or escort request to appointments or clinics. Issues and documents issuance of wheelchairs to Veterans and visitors for temporary use. Restocks wheelchairs at end of day and maintains safe egress. Assists the My HealtheVet (MHV) Coordinator with a variety of administrative duties. Maintains an appropriate supply of materials pertaining to services and locations of these services for proper referral and coordination. Provides information about the organization, its functions, activities and personnel. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. GS-04 grade level: One year of general experience (equivalent to the GS-03 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. General experience includes: knowledge of how to carry out procedures, or of a type of business practice such as maintaining inventory records and replenishing supplies; or of a body of standardized rules, processes, or operations. OR Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at the GS-04 level. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) To calculate, first identify the percentage of required education you have earned (when substituting, you cannot use the first 60 semester hours that you earned). Then identify the percentage of required experience you possess. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at the GS-04. For example, an applicant who has 9 semester hours of graduate level education (i.e. 50% of graduate education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equal 100% of the required experience for the position A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
