You will serve as an Investigative Analyst and member of the Canadian Conformity Team, Import and Certification Division, Office of Vehicle Safety Compliance. Primary duties include reviewing and analyzing conformity documents submitted by registered importers for their vehicles, ensuring that all compliance requirements are met. You are examining documents for discrepancies, inadequacies, and falsifications. Additionally, researching if imported vehicles are subject to active safety recalls.

Qualifications

To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet either the education or specialized experience requirements for the grade at which you are requesting consideration. To qualify for the GS-11 on Experience, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-09 it must include: Experience examining digital documents and images looking for discrepancies, inadequacies, and falsification, using proven research and analytic methods. Experience writing detailed reports of analysis. Experience using investigative and analytical tools to substantiate errors or willful deception discoveries. Experience identifying, collecting, and organizing documentary and demonstrative evidence to support the discovery of non-compliance activities. To qualify for the GS-11 on Education alone, you must have:3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.You can also qualify based on a combination of higher level graduate education and experience. This must be fully supported by your resume and transcripts, provided with your application.To qualify for the GS-12 on Experience, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-11 it must include: Experience using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. Experience with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Experience writing reports of suspicious activity applying knowledge of Federal regulations and statutes to document violations. Experience supporting regulatory investigations through the analysis of data and evidence. You cannot qualify on education at the GS-12 level; you must have experience. Ability to know where or how to gather information for investigations; knowledge of investigative information systems and how to use them to support investigations.
