This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DHA-Modified Direct Hire Auth, Section 1109; PL, 116-92, dated 12/20/2019 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position serves as the Target Relay Information Operator for the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobility and Security under the Range Control Division.

Duties

Operates the Range Target Control Consoles located on various Remote Electronic Target Systems during day and night firing. Prepares the Range Target Control Console to conduct live fire exercises and maintenance operations. Follows safety procedures to prevent accidents and/or injuries. Maintains communication with range and user personnel. Records the performance of each unit on the range. Performs routine grounds maintenance such as cutting grass, picking up trash, or cutting weeds.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
  • This position is subject to rotating shifts, weekend and/or holiday work schedules.
  • This position is approved for Hazardous Duty Pay and the incumbent is eligible for hazard duty pay differential when assigned to work in an area approved for hazard duty pay.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. General Experience: One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as, the operation of automated systems during live fire exercises, following various safety procedures, and maintaining effective communication with multiple personnel. OR Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.
