About the Position: The person in this position will perform a variety of technical and administrative functions in support of medical surveillance programs for occupations that require physical examinations and biological monitoring (e.g., healthcare providers, heavy equipment operators, laboratory technicians, childcare workers, etc.) and to provide patient screenings. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Perform various screenings, such as vision, vital signs, spirometry, audiometry, and electrocardiograms (EKGs). Counsel patients regarding test results, health promotion topics and/or workplace health hazards. Perform worksite visits. Utilize Automated systems to schedule patient appointment and/ routine physical exams. Take vital signs, electrocardiograms, vision screens, height and weight measurements. Review completed physical examinations for completeness and accuracy using instructions and ensuring documentation meets rigorous quality control standards. Provide employment screening to adult workers ages 18-80.

Requirements

  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain approved certification in Audiometry within two years of appointment. Current certification is preferred, but not required upon initial employment.
  • Required to successfully complete a NIOSH approved course in Spirometry. Certificate of completion within two years of appointment. Refresher is required every 5 years. Possession of current training certificate is preferred, but not required.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons.
  • This position requires applicants to obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualification Requirements for GS 5: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing support duties under close supervision of a health care personnel; providing costumer service; maintaining files and using an automated system to schedule/reschedule appointments This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position, such as, such as Health Technician, Health care Technician in audiology, speech pathology, and other related Health Technician sciences' etc..(NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcript). OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Qualification Requirements for GS 6: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes working with Health care personnel with limited supervision assisting with various screenings, such as vision, vital signs, spirometry, audiometry, and electrocardiograms (EKGs); scheduling patient check-in appointments; utilizing an automated medical information system; AND working with Health care personnel with limited supervision. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). GS-06 - You must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted for GS-6. Qualification Requirements for GS 7: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes counseling patients on test results; conducting occupational health tests in any of the following (audiograms, spirometry, vision screening, electrocardiograms); taking vital signs; operating an automated system to input and retrieve medical information. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). GS-07 - You must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted for GS-7.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
