About the Position: This position is located in the Directorate for Quality and Safety at William Beaumont Army Medical Center at El Paso, TX.

Duties

Conduct events such as workshops, seminars, training, briefings and other meetings to explain access to health care services and customer service. Formulate official response to written and telephonic request for program information, ensuring research is complete, data is accurate and regulatory. Interpret hospital guidance, mission and or policies to present the patients? needs and/or opinions to appropriate staff and management. Identify problem areas to suggest solutions or alternatives to existing procedures in regards to patient experience. Assist patients in the resolution of their concerns and navigating the healthcare system. Technically oversee and provide guidance on procedures and assignments to lower graded positions within the organization.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes analyzing data on patient inquiries/complaints to track trends; identifying issues in medical care to make recommendations for process improvements; advising patients about their patient rights and/or benefits; and utilizing healthcare automated systems to access and/or review patient records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Management, Healthcare Education, or Public Health. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communications and MediaComputer SkillsOrganizational AwarenessProblem Solving Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the second lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
