This position is located in the Congressional Research Service (CRS), Resources, Science and Industry Division (RSI). The position description number for this position is 004748. This is a non-supervisory, bargaining unit position. The salary range indicated reflects the locality pay adjustments for the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan area.

Duties

The Resources, Science and Industry Division of the Congressional Research Service seeks an Analyst in Environmental Policy. The analyst will possess knowledge of the theories, concepts, processes, techniques, principles, and/or practices of environmental policy and/or science issues related to environmental remediation. This includes knowledge of the history, trends, and evolving status of environmental remediation, including statutes such as CERCLA and RCRA and their implementation, and interrelationships with other key disciplines such as the physical or biological sciences, engineering, and public finance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate ability to develop expertise in new areas.This position requires the ability to utilize analytical methods and techniques to analyze policy issues for the U.S. Congress. Applicants should be comfortable with quantitative approaches in research and familiar with issues related to environmental policy and/or science issues related to environmental remediation. Strong writing and presentation skills, including the ability to synthesize complex analyses into easy-to-understand language for a non-technical audience, are required.
