About the Position: This IT Specialist (INFOSEC/NETWORK) is located at U.S. Army Operational Test Command, G6, Network Div, with duty location of Fort Cavazos, Texas.

Duties

Program and maintain networking devices in support of USAOTC's DREN, SDREN, and SIPRNET, including Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN). Responsibility for the installation, maintenance, testing, evaluation, and repair of local and campus area networks, advanced network communication devices, and equivalent media links. Responsible for planning, evaluating, coordinating, and implementing DREN, SDREN, SIPRNET, and WLAN connections for users requiring access to the installation unclassified and classified networks. Conduct technical analysis/evaluations of existing systems, facility/equipment adaptation feasibility, comparative cost, effectiveness of alternative methods, and compatibility/capability effectiveness studies, etc. Work within the Network Division and coordinates with Customer Support Division, Cybersecurity Division, and the Test Support Division as necessary, during planning for all network moves, changes, or modifications. Write Standard Operating Procedures to adapt operating policies, instructions or procedures and convey organization operating instructions. Develop, maintain, and applied new methods to identify and analyze Information Assurance (IA) vulnerabilities in USAOTC IT systems.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Access (SCI) through the duration of your employment.
  • The incumbent of this position must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position requires completion of the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position (IAT-II) as outlined in DoD Publication 8570-.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program.
  • This position requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station up to 25% of the time.

AND 3) experience Identifying, risks associated with IT system vulnerabilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
