About the Position: Serves as a Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) for Army brigade-sized organizations. Works with the Installation Senior Commander Lead SARC and command staff to manage the Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) program. The services population includes Soilders, family members, DoD civilians, and contractor personnel authorized to accompany US Forces in contingency operations.

Duties

Manage the Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Program for the Organization. Provide awareness and prevention, training and education, victim advocacy, response, reporting and follow up for sexual harassment/assault issues. Maintain a workplace environment that rejects sexual harassment and sexual assault and attitudes that promote such behaviors. Provide Policy, guidance and other information for victims of sexual harassment and sexual assault, subordinate unit commanders, first responders, and those who seek to prevent or respond to sexual harassment/assault. Promotes sensitive care, advocacy treatment, reporting options for victims of sexual harassment/assault and accountability for those who commit these crimes. Establish and provide training, technical assistance and education to ensure understanding of the SHARP Program.

Requirements

  • Background checks against all records required by law, Office of Personnel Managment, and Army policy or regulation will be conducted prior to entering on duty in the position.
  • Minimum of a favorable suitability determination on a Tier 3 background investigation.
  • Must attend and graduate from required SHARP training courses within six months of employment. While waiting for completion of certification, the employee may be reassigned to a position that meets the employee's qualifications and skills.
  • Must maintain an active D-SAACP certification and prior to having any victim contact or access to victim information. In the event that D-SAACP expires, the individual is not authorized to perform and SHARP duties.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • May be subject to occasional 24/7 on-call SARC responsibilities.
  • This position may require temporary duty (TDY) business travel up to 25% of the time.

Specialized Experience: To qualify based on work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, such as: providing managerial and technical assistance in programs such as equal opportunity, sexual assault prevention and response; evaluating programs to identify and resolve systematic issues; directing program activities that emphasize prevention of sexual assault and harassment; and interpreting and utilizing comprehensive policy that reinforces a culture of sexual harassment and sexual assault prevention, response and accountability. OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Educatikon and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
