The primary purpose of this position is to schedule, initiate, and control work orders, establishes priorities, and coordinates requirements with the vehicle maintanence section and/or outside units. Analyzes and maintains related vehicle maintenance records.

Duties

Administers all automated vehicle maintenance production programs and systems. Controls utilization to provide optimum support and economy of vehicle through the analysis of monthly management information system data and review of effectiveness of motor transportation policies and procedures. Performs analytical support for vehicle maintenance process. Assists the fleet manager in managing and accounting for vehicle control/inventory programs. Provides parts, materials, assemblies, and supplies needed to maintain, overhaul, repair, or rebuild a unique and diverse automotive fleet.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR APPLICANTS WITH NO PREVIOUS FEDERAL EMPLOYMENT: One year of specialized experience for GS-1152-09 level positions which includes operation, installation, and repair of a variety of automotive systems, assemblies, and surfaces; vehicle maintenance technical publications; production control functions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-08 grade level position or equivalent in the federal service. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR CURRENT/PREVIOUS FEDERAL EMPLOYEES: One year of specialized experience for GS-1152-09 level positions which includes operation, installation, and repair of a variety of automotive systems, assemblies, and surfaces; vehicle maintenance technical publications; production control functions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-07 grade level position or equivalent in the federal service. Specialized Experience For GS-07 I am a current or previous federal employee and Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes operation, installation, and repair of a variety of automotive systems, assemblies, and surfaces; vehicle maintenance technical publications; production control functions. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of governing vehicle maintenance/management regulations, policies, procedures, techniques, and methods. 2. Knowledge of production control functions, operations, program requirements, and work methods. Knowledge of technical practices to be able to route, move, assemble, receive, select, and obtain materials. 3. Skill in data entry and processing of transactions in the Defense Property Accountability System (DPAS) 4. Skill in maintaining official files, records, and listings. Ability to read and interpret instructions and production control and supply documents. 5. Ability to apply basic analytical methods to determine trends and make recommendations to correct unfavorable developments. Ability to apply an extensive body of fleet management regulations, policies, procedures, techniques and methods. 6. Knowledge of production processes and supply procedures in order to locate and expedite critical parts; and technical practices to be able to route, move, assemble, receive, select, and obtain materials. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
