About the Position: Fort Drum, the home of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), is located in Northern New York, a historically unique and geographically beautiful area, offering bountiful outdoor recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing to winter sports of all types. Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles from Canada, with the Great Lakes to the west, the Adirondack Mountains to the east, and the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands in between.

Duties

Receives, examines, identifies and verifies the various components of and completeness of Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement Systems (MILES) and other training devices Army Training Aids Devices Simulators and Simulations (TADSS). Instructs soldiers and customers on assembly, proper operation, safety and troubleshooting of MILES and other training devices TADSS during use in the field environment. Receives request forms and locates requested items, comparing identifying information on documents with stock tags, bin markings or box markings. Moves items to appropriate storage locations in accordance with established methods. Provides classroom setup, stock age services, and ground maintenance to include snow plowing/removal from sidewalks, parking lots, and access routes.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees may be required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime to include weekends and/or holidays occasionally.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain, for the duration of employment in this position, a valid Government Driver's License.
  • This position requires 5 % TDY.

I have the ability to perform common Material Examiner and Identifier (Motor Vehicle Operator/Fork Lift Operator duties. I can receiving supplies; storing supplies; moving supplies to proper lot; verifying accuracy of supplies, and reporting discrepancies. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing 40 pounds, and lifts heavier items with the assistance of weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. Walks over uneven surfaces outdoors while training and troubleshooting device problems in the field environment. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside warehouse and in open storage areas. The areas may be cold, drafty, damp, or hot. Work is performed in close quarters and on concrete floors. Works outdoors in training areas to instruct soldiers, and troubleshoot device problems. Incumbent is exposed to injury from falling stock and from handling materials, as well as from accidents while operating motor vehicles and mechanized equipment.
